The president of Colombia, Gustavo Petro, visited his son Nicolás for the first time, who is being investigated by the country’s authorities for alleged crimes of money laundering and illicit enrichment.
“Today I visited my son Nicolás. As a father he will always have my support and love. As president, I have respected judicial independence without hesitation, ”said the president through his profile on the X social network, formerly known as Twitter.

Thus, Petro has indicated that he expects “a criminal action free of political agendas and fully subject to due process and judicial rulings.”
After that, Nicolás explained that the meeting was marked by family and not political issues: “I want to inform you that today I received a visit from my father, we met for a few minutes as a family (…) Not everything revolves around politics.”
Petro’s eldest son is on probation for the duration of his trial, without being able to leave the country, specifically the city of Barranquilla, or participate in any political rally. (Europe Press).
