Slovakia will deliver 13 Soviet-designed MiG-29 fighters to Ukraine, Slovak Prime Minister Eduard Heger announced this Friday (03.17.2023).

The official added that his country will also supply the Kub air defense system to Kyiv.

After Poland, Slovakia is the second NATO country to announce the shipment of these fighters to Ukraine.

The Kremlin immediately denounced the “growing involvement” of NATO countries in the conflict with Kyiv and stated that these fighters will be “destroyed”.

“The delivery of this military equipment, as we have said many times, cannot affect the outcome” of the conflict, Kremlin spokesman Dmitri Peskov told reporters.

Ukraine has repeatedly asked its Western allies to send it modern fighter bombers, hoping to obtain American F-16s.
